On a surprisingly hot day at Consumes River College in Elk Grove, the Girls ’05 Blue captured the Nor Cal State Cup title in a hard fought match pitting them against a strong S.F. Elite team!

The first 15 minutes of the game passed evenly with both teams gauging their opponent. Marin started to speed up their play which led to some great goal scoring chances in the first half. Mia Nettz was a threat all game using her speed and strength to run past defenders. Finally, with two minutes left in the first half, Nettz got on the end of Imogen Jenkyn’s cross and finished from close range. The goal gave the girls the momentum at the interval. The team returned to the pitch to play a solid second half and had chances to go further ahead including a brilliant header from Katie Noguiero off a free kick. Unluckily, the referee called the goal back for a foul on the SF keeper. Late in the game, SF equalized sending the game to overtime. After a scoreless ten minutes, the game went to penalty kicks from the spot. With SF down 1-3 in the shootout and needing to make their last shot, Marin FC goalkeeper Patrica Depalma came up huge in her goal with another immense save which sealed the title. The team rushed the field in the unique euphoria of their championship. Imogen Jenkyn’s was awarded game MVP and the girls capped off their season with a very special victory.
