Job Description:

  • Reporting directly to the Coach Administrator and indirectly to the Chair and the Board of Directors, the Goalkeeper Specialist is responsible for teaching Club goalkeepers the technical competencies, skills and responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities:

  • Improve goalkeepers' technical competencies (i.e. shot stopping, positional play, diving and deflections, catching and punching, distribution etc.)
  • Improve goalkeepers' understanding of team play (i.e. team shape, role of the goalkeeper as the 11th field player etc.)
  • Develop goalkeepers' leadership capacity (i.e. defensive communication, team organization at set pieces etc.)

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Soccer "A" License or its international equivalent ideally coupled with five or more years of experience training elite level goalkeepers
  • Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
  • High-level experience of playing the position
  • Ability to demonstrate key technical competencies
  • Knowledge and understanding of the broader functionalities of the position (i.e. leadership, communication etc.)
